What we do
The Circle is a creative collective driven by a passion for the arts and the power of storytelling. We develop and produce original work rooted in collaboration and creative exploration. Our space provides a safe environment where new work is nurtured, artistic risks are encouraged, voices are heard and ideas are given a place to grow.
Readings
Every story begins with a voice and live readings transform words on a page into shared experiences. Writers hear their work aloud and engage with performers and audiences in a safe and collaborative environment. We support the development of original work by bringing together creative voices through discovery, and meaningful artistic connection.
Theatre
Playwrights and theatre-makers are supported in shaping compelling stories for the stage. We bring together a community passionate about theatre where stories are discovered, voices are nurtured, and projects begin their journey from page to stage.
Film Making
Yet to produce our very own blockbuster… emphasis on the ‘Yet’ here ha! Many of our members are film makers and have numerous screen credits under their belts. We are
a valuable network of people with a diverse set of skills integral to to the art of film making. A place where people passionate about film can develop original projects and build creative partnerships that take their ideas from script to screen.
Storytelling
Storytelling is at the heart of what we do and we believe there is a story in everyone. The Circle provides a space for you to find your story and find the courage to share it with the world! Or at the very least with the room.
Writing
Every Monday evening our sessions start with a ‘Clearing the Throat’ writing exercise. It’s a great way to brush off the week and re-emerge yourself in the power of writing. Suddenly everything else is forgotten and we are in the room.
Improvs
Improv is a fun tool for creating unscripted and spontaneous scenes. Characters and stories unfold and risks are embraced in a playful and supportive environment. Helps to boost confidence and teamwork within our group and belly laughs are always guaranteed!
